    Description

    The Board President provides strategic leadership and helps guide the overall direction of

    NAMI Pierce County in partnership with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers. This

    role is ideal for someone who is passionate about mental health, collaborative leadership,

    and strengthening community impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership to the Board of Directors and ensure the organization remains

    focused on its mission and strategic priorities.

    • Preside over board meetings and help facilitate productive discussions and

    decision-making.

    • Serve as an ex-officio member of all board committees, except the Nominating

    Committee.

    • Provide general oversight of the organization's operations under the direction of the

    Board of Directors.

    • Partner with staff, contractors, volunteers, and fellow board members to support

    the success and sustainability of NAMI Pierce County.

    • Represent NAMI Pierce County within the community and help cultivate

    relationships with partners and stakeholders.

    • Support good governance, organizational growth, and long-term sustainability.

    Time Commitment

    • Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings.
    • Participate in committee meetings as needed.
    • Support fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement efforts.
    • Serve as an active ambassador for NAMI Pierce County.
    • Board terms are three (3) years. Directors may serve up to two consecutive terms

    (six years total). Following a break in service, former directors may be re-nominated

    in accordance with the bylaws.

    • 15-20 hours per month

    Qualifications

    • Passion for NAMI's mission and improving mental health in our community.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to think strategically while supporting day-to-day organizational success.
    • Previous nonprofit, leadership, governance, or community engagement experience

    is preferred but not required.

    Compensation: Board members serve as volunteers and receive no compensation other

    than reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred while conducting official NAMI

    Pierce County business.
